Thoth: The Magician

I choose Thoth to represent The Magician because Thoth is the good of wisdom and knowledge whose council is often soft, and The Magician is associated with gifts of the intellect. In addition Thoth is seen as being akin to Hermes, the messenger of the gods, and The Magician acts as a mediator between ourselves and the divine. Egypt is also associated with the practice of alchemy which is like a merger of magic and science, and I believe that fits with the persona of the Magician as well.
