Her eyes glinted gold
and her lips tasted of star-dust,
in the right light her smile was
full of allure, but an unknown
shadow belied concealed cruelty.

Gilded fingers beckoned
and desire followed
in a blind lust, but she
reveled only half-truths.

She demanded more
than just a soul or a life
for fidelity, she could
take everything in a breath.

Her offerings unpredictable,
to rise or fall at a flick
of her eye brow,
she remained indifferent to
devotion, however earnest.

Acting upon whims all her own,
effortlessly she became disinterested,
constantly sacrifice must be offered
to appease her.

She laughed at misfortune
and was ever the irresistible mistress
that never could be denounced.

She promised the world on a platter
took everything in a gesture
and gave nothing away.
