Literature Text

I was there at the moment
of your creation,
Khaibit waiting in the dark,
following in silence,
ever beside you.

Circling your head
as Ba collecting
the scattered pieces
of you, Isis gathering
the fragments of Osiris,
let me be your resurrection.

I will pierce my Ib
so my blood flows
into yours, the birthing
place of love,
I have nourished
your soul with mine.

Whisper into my ear
your Ren, and I shall
breathe mine into you,
holding the balance
of power over
one another.

Morphing into you
I become Sekhem,
our limbs moving as
one body, uncovering
synchronicity,
we shall trade Sahu
you are the force
of my existence
and I am the force
of yours.

No distance of time
and space can separate
us for I am your Ka,
your other self,
watching as you sleep,
a presence felt
even when not seen.

But you are ever
my Akhu,
illuminating light
a gift fallen from the sun,
everlasting divine.
Based upon the Egyptian belief that we have seven souls which represent different parts of ourself and our identity.

Ka: Our double can live independent independent from man. The concept of Ka is quite abstract and can mean many different things. Ka can represent aspects of our personality and characteristics it can also be our destiny.

Ba: Depicted as a bird with the had of the individual.   It personifies the impression we have upon the world and others around us. Like Ka it can be linked to aspects of the personality but the difference is it is perceived from the point of view of an outside observer rather than the individual.

Khaibit: Our shadow can sometimes be seen as an imperfect version of our self.

Ib: The heart where it was believed the soul lived. Much of our associations with the heart are derived from the Egyptian concept of heart in which it was believed that our deeper emotions dwelled within the heart.

Ren: Our secret name. The concept of names were very important to the Egyptians. They believed that everything had a one true name in which to discover it was to grant a person power over the holder of the name. Because of this often times people, animals and other objects had multiple name to protect the true name from being discovered.

Skehem: Life force, and that which moved the limbs of man

Sahu: Spiritual body of man, contained the mental and spiritual abilities of man

Akhu: The immortal part of the soul, a shining radiant being which lived within the Sahu and was our intellect. When an individual died the Akhu would ascend into heaven and live among the gods, or with the stars.
