Reaper

The shadows grin their mercenary smiles,
in silence accepting the inevitable,
with subtle mockery.

The All Souls Father
parts even the mist in fear,
wherever his heavy tread may
be heard, it is a vibration
more than a sound.

Parasite like it crawls just
under the skin, and bit by bit
burrows in and starts to drain
the life away.

And as a leacher in the marshes,
he comes, unannounced,
but ever known, to collect
his fresh fed pets, and thus
he reaps his ghastly harvest.
