Literature Text

They marched in
gestapo style
with their small black eyes
and razor smiles.

Believing
they could silence
you beneath
their oily shadows.

Slithering
invasively across
your skin,
twisting yourself inside
like a spreading disease
you can never wash clean.

Upon your knees
will you kneel
quivering, holding your
tongue until you
can barely breathe?

What is life
when you are left
crawling through the mud
polishing their jack boots
with a tongue
proven good for nothing else?

And what could
sordid lips kiss
but a waiting
withering death?

Are you so content
to bear their
shame with freedom
only a mouthful away?

Stripped down
laid bare
spread-eagle
will you too grant
them the satisfaction
of silence?

When voice
is your greatest weapon
which never can be ripped
out, only wasted
by your own asphyxiating
fear.

And would leave them
trembling,
reduced to the
filthy piss stained
swill they always
have been.

"Censorship"

As an artist I tend to stand firmly against all forms of censorship so my idea for this one was not to target one specific cause but I wanted to speak out against all forms of censorship. Any time someone keeps silent and does not speak out from fear or allowing themselves to feel ashamed becaue of something someone else did or becasue of society.

I recently read "The Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov and there was this repeating phrase in the book "Of all vices Cowardice is the worse" which Bulgakov himself personally believe, and I was in part inspired by that idea.

excellent
I esp like the line
you can never wash clean

the tussle of fear vs free voice comes across very well.
